GDPR-Compliant Outbound

Also: Cold email under GDPR

Business outreach that respects EU data-protection and electronic-marketing law: how you source, store, and use prospect data, and whether you may email a stranger at all.

Why it matters

Outbound that is normal and legal in the US can be unlawful in parts of Europe. Get it wrong and you risk complaints, blocked domains, and in Germany, real legal exposure. Get it right and outbound becomes a durable channel instead of a liability.

What good looks like

A clean setup has a lawful basis for processing contact data, a documented source for every record, a working opt-out in every message, and sending limits that protect domain reputation. Reply rate is a separate question from legality, and both have to hold.

In the European market

This is where the gap between a US playbook and European reality is widest. The UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Germany do not read the rules identically. Treat Europe as several markets, not one.
