Wedge Strategy

Also: WedgeEntry Wedge

Entering a market through one sharp, specific use case or buyer, then expanding outward once you have a foothold.

Why it matters

A wedge gives you a way in against incumbents and inertia: one narrow problem you solve better than anyone, for one specific buyer. It is easier to win attention and a first deal with a precise wedge than with a broad platform pitch. The wedge earns the right to expand.

What good looks like

A strong wedge is specific enough to win quickly, painful enough that buyers act, and connected to a larger expansion once you are in. A wedge that does not lead anywhere is just a niche.
